I took my wife and kids to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival today. We purchased discount ticket at Super America, and arrived with 10 minute of open or so and left after we had our fill of shows, entertainment, and eating (and the kids were tired). Excellent weather mid 70’s, the place was hopping. I brought along a single 28-70mm F2.8 and traveled light. Additional show event details will appear below this post for the 24th as I have time to publish them.

Note: If I handed you a card, I shot over 1000 photos and their is a good chance your photo will not be the 5-10 posted, please shoot me an e-mail noted on the card and I will send you details of how to browse/download the originals.

August 24th, 2008 Bedlam Bards @ MN Renfest

At the Renfiar we hit the Bedlam Bards at the ‘Mead’ stand where they perform occasionally due to other scheduling conflicts. We used to hit them at Merlins Rest but, are now frequently seen at HalfTimeRec.

A bit of a unique group with at least two members showing up (full-time) members with others (plenty over the years). I have yet to see them play with less than 4 people. They play a Celtic-Renfolk type music very unique and fun to drink ale to with friends. Between every song everyone takes a drink (the band often does shots). I had talked with a former bedlam at Merlin’s and he said it was all for fun and the love of music, much like my love for photography (I believe that’s what I heard, I had quite a few guiness/harps/bass and combinations thierof (black&tan, etc) that evening).
